Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Review

In 2012, Fantasy Flight released a tactical miniatures game called Star Wars: X-wing miniature game.

Now, I am passionate about all things Star Wars but for some reason, I didn't rush to get this game when it was sold in hobby shops all over town. I mean, the models of the starfighters looked extremely cool and the details on the ships looked amazing, but I felt like learning the rules of gameplay would be a chore. I imagined having to read and learn thick pages of rulebooks just to play the game.

Fast forward to 4 years later and I decided to take a leap of faith and purchase the game. I was prepared to play this complicated game. Or so I thought!

This game is by no means complicated! It is so easy to grasp the rules, I started playing in a few minutes! The game has a quick start guide and a more "advanced" guide to make it easier for players to learn the basics. The game has some advanced moves and rules for the ships but it it easy enough to follow once you have got the basics down.

I've created a quick video to show the basic gameplay of this fantastic game:

So as you can see, gameplay is fast and easy.

If you like Star Wars or if you just like great tactical or strategic games, I highly recommend you give Star Wars: X-Wing Miniature game a try!

How I got into collecting Star Wars Toys

I love Star Wars. It was a big part of my life growing up. The eternal conflict between good and evil and finding balance in the Force was a big draw for me. Of course seeing fancy spaceships, laser bolts, light sabers, and exotic aliens provided a fun distraction from everyday life.

I was fully engaged as a kid that I can use the Force to influence the things around me. I spent countless hours trying to move objects with just my mind. There are moments when I could almost swear I can "feel" items move just a tiny bit. I convinced myself that I just needed to practice and that my mind just needs to get stronger. Ah, the undying hopes of a child! Nothing is truly impossible. I had grand visions of training myself to be a Jedi. My mission was to protect the weak and bring peace to the galaxy! I was full of hope and energy. But of course, every kid needs to grow up. And growing up means learning to let go of the wonderful things we believe in as a child. Like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, or becoming a Jedi.

One thing I can't let go of though, is my love for Star Wars. I still wanted to be a part of that universe.
Which is why I turned to collecting toys. It felt like being more involved in that galaxy far, far away. Through toys I could not only re-create the scenes from the movie, I can also use my imagination to create new stories and adventures for my favorite characters. I experienced the thrill of the hunt when roaming around different shops and toy stores looking for rare toys, but more importantly good bargains! This hobby is not easy on the wallet. But the joy it gives to collectors like me is priceless.

I may not be able to fulfill my childhood dreams of becoming a Jedi. But I can still go on adventures and fight Sith through my toys!

So what got you into collecting? Share your thoughts and May the Force be with you Always!

1st Post Test

This post is a test.

I don't have a clue how blogging works, so I guess I'll just have to learn on the fly!

The plan is to blog about things that I am passionate about such as gaming, fitness, toys and hobbies.

Hope to be part of the blogging community soon and we'll see how it goes.

This should be fun!
